Bifur Series
Bifur is a display typeface designed by A.M. Cassandre, a French painter who tragically committed suicide in 1968. The idea behind Bifur was to create a font that had multiple uses, not only can it be used as typographic design, but also pattern based and illustrative. The following images are from 3 separate projects. The first a poster design that was done to show off the typeface, which I used a simple A to Z pattern, as well as creating a speech bubble out of the letters of Bifur. The second a Specimen Book that goes into the history and thought behind Bifur. Throughout the book, I really dove into the idea of Bifur being used not only as a typeface, but a tool to create abstract patterns, as well as interesting and charming illustrations. The final project tasked me with creating a website for the typeface we had been working with. I focused on creating an interactive website that took you through the same idea I was telling throughout the specimen book.
